We do not diagnose disease or recommend a dietary supplement for the treatment of disease. You should share this information with your physician who can determine what nutrition, disease and injury treatment regimen is best for you. Lawrenceville, NJ (Dr Simone) – Last year 1.35 million children (ages 6-19) went to the ER for sports-related injuries (source: Safe Kids Worldwide) – that’s about 1 in 5 kids who go to the ER. The number of injuries is probably even higher because some children go to urgent care facilities and their own doctors. Sprains, fractures, abrasions and concussions top the list costing close to $1 billion per year. The sports include: Football 395,000; Basketball 389,000; Soccer 172,000; Baseball 120,000; then Softball 58,000 to the last category Track and Field 25,000 with Volleyball, Wrestling, Cheerleading and Gymnastics in between.
In another study, 308,962 concussions were diagnosed in high school athletes during the 2011-2012 school year. Young athletes take longer to heal after a concussion because their bodies are still growing. A second concussion can cause even more harm. Girls have more concussions than boys.
How can we protect our youth? Allow the body to rest. More strengthening exercises. Use proper technique at all times. And Nutritional HydrationTM is important. Studies clearly show that proper nutritional hydration allow for better mental and physical performance – you run harder, faster, farther, have better acceleration and agility, more endurance, less injuries, less mental fatigue, and better recovery.
